We weren't able to stay at Rocky Mountain very long. We had originally planned on camping for three nights, but when we arrived, we decided to alter our plans. There was a large storm moving in that promised lots of rain. It had already dumped nearly 5 inches of hail in the park, closing the main park road and flooding several others. In addition, the cloud cover made it difficult to enjoy the higher elevations. So, we decided to spend the day there, and speed up the rest of our trip so that we could add in a couple of days at Mesa Verde NP. We're both quite happy that we were flexible enough to make the change.
